We further commit our resources of time, spiritual gifts, finances, programs and facilities to this mission.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
AND UNITED IN FAITH WE GIVE
“In the ever-changing circumstances of life, there is a faithful never-changing God in control.Every day begins and ends with His purpose – there isn’t a detail that escapes His eye…a trial that doesn’t touch His heart…or a single experience beyond His compassion.”What a wonderful way to begin 2012 knowing that God has a purpose for each of us every day of our lives.I know that God has a purpose for my life.I may not know exactly what that purpose is at all times, but I trust in Him to show me and to use me for His purpose.“…Pray about everything; tell God your needs… If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6, 7 TLB)May we all share His blessings and purpose in 2012.
Do you need a good read this summer? Louise and John Hill’s son, Dave has assembled and donated to our church library, “Throw Momma from the Brain”. This is a biography about his Mom, Louise Hill. The Hills served as missionaries in Nigeria 1955-1993. This book has lots of pictures. Since the Hills remain a part of our lives, I’m sure you will enjoy “Throw Momma from the Brain” as much as I did. Come by West Side church library today to check out and enjoy this book.

APPRECIATE YOUR PASTOR
I read an article in a devotional book and would like to share some of the thoughts with you.It was about appreciating your pastor and listed four Bible principles:(1) “[The] high priest is a man chosen to represent other people in their dealings with God”.(2)“Because he is human, he is able to deal gently with the people...For he is subject to the same weaknesses they have” (See Heb 5:2 NLT).(3)“That is why he has to offer sacrifices, both for their sins and for his own sins” (See Heb. 5:3 NLT).Actually, he may struggle more, for Satan would rather knock out one general than a hundred foot soldiers.(4)“No man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God” (Heb. 5:4 NKJV).Your pastor did not call himself, God called him.So before you criticize him ask yourself, “Have I prayed for him?”Before you pronounce judgment ask yourself, “Is God dealing with him in ways I don’t know?”
Yes, our pastor is human and has struggles just as we do.We are all human and will make mistakes, but our pastor is held to a higher standard because God has called him to shepherd His people.Let’s remember to pray for him daily.

Pastor’s Ponderings
As we celebrate the New Year we must remember that the passing of time does not mean that we forget about lessons learned and things to do.We must never forget the lessons of Christ that we have been taught over the years. We need to share our wisdom with those who do not understand why we do the things we do.Don’t get frustrated or angry that those young “whipper-snappers” don’t have a clue or don’t know how to take instruction. We also were once that young person who had all the answers to life’s questions; yet we now realize we didn’t have a clue.We come to a point over time when we remember that one “old-person” in our life who understood life more than we gave them credit. We just wish we had listened a little bit more when they were teaching life’s lessons.
We must also not forget about the things we need to do.We so often make lists of things we need to do that seem so important; but the truth is, in the grand scheme of life, our “lists” are generally nothing more than wanting our will done. The things we should put on our “lists” should include spending meaningful time with our children and grandchildren.Developing relationships with our family is one of the most meaningful and everlasting gifts we can give on this earth. They should expect us to attend their school plays, ballgames, recitals and all other functions. Our “lists” should include being able to talk to others about our relationship with Christ. We should be able to witness (talk to others about our relationship with Christ) at any time.We don’t need to quote to them John’s Gospel from memory. We need to show and tell them how God is real and active in our life.I guess what should be done this next year is what we should have been doing our entire saved lives; living like real Christians.
For this next year follow these “Don’ts” and become a healthier and more enjoyable Christian (taken from “Sword of the Lord”):1. Don’t have remorse over yesterday’s failure.2. Don’t have anxiety over today’s problem.3. Don’t worry over tomorrow’s uncertainty.4.Don’t waste this moment’s opportunity.5. Don’t procrastinate over your present duty.6. Don’t resent another’s success.7. Don’t criticize a neighbor’s imperfection.8. Don’t be impatient with young people’s immaturity.9. Don’t be ungrateful for God’s provisions.10. Don’t lack faith in God’s providence.
